Strange Brews
Jul. 20th, 2007 09:59 pmFollowing a recommendation from Puzzle_, along with some hints on where to look, I've bought some Cairn O'Mohr fruit wines to try on holiday. I chose a sparkling strawberry and an autumn oak. I bought them form Royal Mile Whiskies, which has a cabinet of unusual Scottish wines and beers. As I was there I also bought a tayberry beer (tayberries being a cross between raspberries and blackberries).
I'll also bring the Gold Cuvee that I was given by the OGF team for being programme chair of OGF20. If I add a bottle of heather ale and perhaps a decent perry, I'll have a good mix of unusual drinks to try (and share) on holiday.
I just hope the Cairn O'Mohr wines are better than the Montagu Castle silver birch wine we tried many years ago. That was truly awful - I suppose it could have been a duff bottle but I've never wanted to risk a repeat experience.
