The young who?

The BBC series of Merlin is just the latest in a run of stories about the adolescence of well-known fictional characters.  The film Young Sherlock was possibly the first.  There has been an American TV series about superman as a kid, while there are a set of novels about the young James Bond.  I assume the field is ripe for more such series.  Which character would you choose?
