That was great fun - which pretty sums up Doctor Who since its reinvention a few years ago. As ever, Russell T. Davies has fused old and new well. He's also very good at making connections between separate episodes, dropping in enough clues to make the final episode be a true climax for the whole series - something which works much better than American SF shows such as Lost or Heroes, which never tell a single story in one episode and finish in anticlimaxes. (In addition, the American shows are way too earnest).

The previous three series all had one or two truly excellent episodes, mostly written by Stephen Moffat. This wasn't the case for this series: Moffat's story was no better or worse than the average. The best episodes were written by Davies himself.

I've also had a lot of fun this series from laughing at the comments from too-serious fans who critise the programme on various blogs. Some of them seem to like everything about Dr. Who apart from the actual television programme. I can't work out why they don't just admit to themselves that they don't like it and spend their time doing something else.

Where would be the fun in that?!

Now there is a gap in your viewing schedule I suggest you download this...

Well, if Henry doesn't, then you should.

Do remember, the beauty of this game is you only play it episode length sessions - back than 25 mins, these days 45 w/ advert time.

Thinking about it, Henry has to run as you are the Doc, ah! unless some backward time loop polarity interface has corrupted the cosmic-stream-conducer and a Time Lord has to run things,

Sorry, this is what a glass of wine will do to a being after a week away with the family.

The series ended better than it began. As did the previous one. And in both cases things could have been greatly improved simply by switching round the order of a couple of episodes (eg Unicorn and Wasp would have made a great bit of light relief after a heavier story such as Midnight, which I'd have scheduled early)

And I hope you're not suggesting that overly-serious fans criticising the show is somehow something new, I've been doing it since 1963!

Indeed. I have it on good authority that Meltroid's first words were "she's not his grand-daughter!"

Who noticed the Spike reference? Huh? Huh? Didn't get used, but I was looking forward to Cap'n Jack getting surrounded by Daleks and then going "ooooohhh bollocks..."

"I can't work out why they don't just admit to themselves that they don't like it and spend their time doing something else".

It's because we're nerds. That's what we do - constantly biting the hand that feeds us, semi-affectionately. As the Lone Gunmen said to Mulder at one point "we're going to get some beers and nit-pick Deep Space Nine* tonight - wanna come?"

Part of the love is the mock-hate.

*A bigger nerd than I will doubtless substitiute the correct series mentioned here.
