New job fades
Aug. 8th, 2008 03:56 pmYesterday I went for a job interview. I'd spent a couple of days this week preparing for it, as well as chatting to some of the people involved before I went on holiday. I thought it was a bit of a long shot; they may well have an internal candidate and in any case the downturn in IT jobs means that there are a lot of good people chasing the jobs that do exist. This job would be ideal for me, as it would let me put into practice some of the technologies I've been learning about and promoting in my current work; at the same time, this lack of hands-on experience is my weakest point when promoting myself.
I let myself get my hopes up and I did as well as I could expect in the interview. But I haven't heard anything yet, which is not promising.
And to think of all the fun things I could have done in my week off instead...
